Despite these expenditures, Nigerians continue to lament the high rate of insecurity and killings across the country.
In Plateau State, there have been several reports of killings across communities. The Take-It-Back Movement noted that there have been2,218 killingsin Plateau State since April 2023.
More recently, on Sunday night, gunmen stormed a community at about 8pm, killing over50 people, injuring dozens — including women and children — and burning more than40 houses.
The attack occurred just two weeks after similar violence in Bokkos LGA, which claimed more than80 lives.
The situation has not been any better in Borno State, where the state governor raised an alarm over losing control of parts of the state to bandits.

Local sources, including Facebook user Ibn Maigana, confirmed the attack, shedding light on the long-standing dangers faced by residents in the area.
There have also been killings reported in Benue State, with residents fleeing for safety.
A report by SBM Intelligence noted that the insecurity rocking Benue State has forced300,000 personsinto makeshift camps.
"The humanitarian consequences have been catastrophic. Entire communities have been displaced, with over 2.2 million people forced from their homes nationwide, and more than 300,000 crowded into makeshift camps in Benue State alone."
Ondo State residents have also protested against growing insecurity, with kidnappings and deaths from suspected criminal herders recorded in the state.
Protests have also been held in Enugu State against insecurity, with residents lamenting the takeover of homes by rampaging bandits.
A report by SaharaReporters noted that no fewer than44 farm settlements, known asNdiagu, have been overrun, with residents forced to flee their homes and seek shelter in neighbouring communities.
The affected communities includeAbor Ishala, Mgbuji, Agu-Amede, Eha-Agu, andUmuhu.
The latest and most populated farm settlement to come under attack by marauding herdsmen wasNdiagu Amofia villageinUmuhu Eha-Amufu autonomous communityon February 28. Residents were forced to flee their homes and seek shelter in neighbouring communities.
In Abor, no fewer thannine farm settlementswere overrun by militias, who sacked the residents and took over their homes with their families.
Data from the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data (ACLED) shows that Nigeria recorded9,355 fatalities from "political violence.
While the government has continued to restate its commitment to security, Nigerians have lamented that occurrences do not prove or reflect this.
